Acrylic & Sheet Music on Wood Panel
2 X 24” X 36”
When asked to create a piece in celebration of Miss Katheryne, I was honoured. As I sat down to paint I was struck by the many ways she has inspired, taught and encouraged a love for song and dance in our children. Thus, the tree was created as a symbol of growth. The setting sun shows us that although this season is at an end, a new day will come. Under the tree of music, the children laugh, dance, sing and dream. The woman is symbolic of Miss Katheryne and her guiding hand. Lastly, I add music notes in the tree; it seemed appropriate that something so inspirational would give way to music.
The piece was created as a diptych, with one side residing at the Performing Arts Youth Centre and the other side at Miss Katheryne ‘s residence to emphasize the perpetual connection between the KIDS & MUSIC program and Katheryne Perri Edwards.
